Pastoral Planning Mission Statement

St. Francis de Sales, a parish steeped in tradition, rich in natural beauty and bountifully blessed with a community devoted to love and serve God and our neighbor. We seek to actively live the Word of God through the example of our patron saint, a life devoted to energetic, generous and constant fidelity to the will of God. Empowered by the Holy Spirit we will grow in our faith through continuous education, formation, communication, and out-reach, while passing these values on to our future generations.  We endeavor to be a most vibrant community of faith which will effectively utilize the talents, resources and treasure of our parish for the good of all God’s people.

Leadership - Goal #1: To identify, train and nurture a lay-leadership team, to inspire and coordinate volunteers and demonstrate Christian leadership in word and deed in accordance with the Gospel mission, the norms of the Church and the mission of St. Francis de Sales parish.

Worship - Goal #2:  To increase the reverence, presence and vibrancy of each Mass celebration by enhancing the spiritual experience of the liturgy as well as celebrating specific liturgies for the needs of the different demographics of our parish.

Word - Goal #3: To create opportunities for parishioners to continue in their education, formation and understanding of their faith in order to develop a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.

Community - Goal #4: To build an informed and welcoming community of faith so that we develop closer relationships with each other in the Way of Jesus Christ.

The surest way to faithfully interpret the movement and desire of the Spirit for the community is to inquire into the feelings, hopes and concerns of the members of the parish. The intent of the Pastoral Planning Council was to focus on a mission and vision of our parishes’ future life together.

 To that end:

We shared our intentions with all the parishioners when we spoke at the Masses;

  We listened through the One-to-One interviews with input from over 300 parishioners;

  We envisioned the future by gathering your thoughts on what the vision of the parish should be in our Parish Assembly which was attended by over 200 parishioners;

  We sought counsel and guidance from our Parish Council;

  And in all circumstances harvested the power of the Holy Spirit in our discernment of the Lord’s will for St. Francis de Sales.

Where do we go from here?

     We’ve planned the work – now it’s time to WORK the plan!

“Christ has no body now on earth but yours; yours are the only hands with which we can do his work, yours are the only feet with which he can go around the world, yours are the only eyes through which his compassion can shine forth upon a troubled world. Christ has no body on earth but yours.” (Attributed to St. Teresa of Avila)

As we move forward to put the plan to work we will be calling on all our parishioners to bring our vision for St. Francis to fruition.
